EREA takes the responsibility to provide the research and validation needed to guarantee in the short term safety rules, regulations, measures and standards, and in the long term to fulfil the Flightpath2050 goals concerning safety.
Focus of noise research will be shifted from technology to i) an impact assessment for the newly developed technologies, and ii) a more thorough understanding of the noise generation and propagation processes to enable smart noise abatement actions.
TSE 3 is designed to complement Clean Sky and SESAR by looking further ahead, considering the air transport system to be an essential element of a future total transport chain. The 24/7 system is e.g. to provide an essential contribution to achieving the Flightpath 2050 goal of at least 90% of travellers within Europe completing their journey, door-to-door, within 4 hours.
As a consequence to TSE 2 and TSE 3 asking for new energy concepts, the last TSE will address the energy system on-board and on-ground.
Only with these four elements, the whole 24/7 goal can be gained, and the complete impact of aviation to the environment can be analysed.
